Kansas State senior Jordan Bedore is one of 42 players nationally and seven from the Big 12 Conference named to the 2008 Rimington Trophy Spring Watch List, the award committee announced Wednesday.

Bedore, a Goodland native, returns for his senior season as one of the Cats’ most experienced lineman with 22 career starts. Last season, Bedore started and graded out very well over the first five games of the season before suffering a season-ending injury. Bedore was honored this past season as the recipient of the Anthony Bates Memorial Award at K-State by best promoting team unity and unselfishness for the benefit of the team.

The nine-year old trophy, which is given annually to nation’s top center, is presented by the Boomer Esiason Foundation. Since its inception, the Rimington Trophy has raised over $1.3 million for the award's benefactor, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, which is hosted by the Boomer Esiason Foundation that to date has raised over $65 million for CF research.

Rimington, the award's namesake, was a consensus first team All-America Center at Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the John Outland Trophy's only double winner as the nation's finest college interior lineman.

The Rimington Trophy is a fully accredited member of the National College Football Awards Association.

Other Big 12 centers on the list include Baylor’s J.D. Walton, Colorado’s Daniel Sanders, Kansas’ Ryan Cantrell, Oklahoma’s Jon Cooper, Oklahoma State’s Andrew Lewis and Texas’ Chris Hall.

Bedore and Kansas State will kick off the 2008 season on Saturday, August 30, when North Texas visits Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
